Whether or not capitalism did any good, or was a net good, is a moot point as this juncture. (Many might point out that it was quite selective on who benefitted and who paid the price, who got the cures to cancer and who lived in sacrifice zones that increased cancer incidence rates...etc. Others like Jonathan Haidt might argue that it is a mixed bag, capable of both liberation and exploitation) The point is that it no longer serves, if it ever did. You can call it a bridge ideology if you want, either way, it needs to be replaced or so heavily reimagined with a completely different mentality it bears little resemblance.
